Submitting your webpage, blog post or article to Digg is an excellent method to gain additional exposure. Once you submitted your story, other users can vote for it. Content with more votes votes will rank higher and benefit from massive exposure. Story with the highest votes will also be featured on Digg’s frontpage in addition to ranking higher on searches. Everyday, lots of internet marketers, webmasters and bloggers struggle and use many kind of tricks, in attempts to get their contents or articles featured on Digg’s front page.

  • Tips Optimize DiggSet up a good interesting profile and create for yourself an eye catching avatar (avatar= logo or personal image) to attract attention to your posts. With 15 submissions per page and hundreds of submissions per hour, you need to have something that make your posts stand out from the other.

One of the most favorite method for people to promote their articles is through the website called Digg. This steps will show you how to submit an article on Digg and share it with the world.
First, of course you need to register and have Digg account for your own. You can read my previous article on how to create a Digg account.

  • Find an article, blog post or image which you would like to submit (you also can submit yours). Copy and paste the website URL address into the submission form. Specify whether the submission is a video, image or news article and then press Continue (it will take a few moments for your submission to be processed).
  • Next will be the page saying it is checking for duplicates to ensure someone else has not already submitted the page to Digg.
  • After that you will reach to a page where you are asked to add a title and description (write a short interesting blurb about the article before submitting it). The title and description will be seen by visitors when they are making the decision on wether to click on your link or not. After that pick an appropriate topic category which your article belongs to (make sure is accurate, otherwise you may get many negative feedbacks and comments on your posts). Fill out the form and submit your article by clicking “Submit Story”.
  • Your article will then automatically appear in the Upcoming section of its category and is officially a part of the Digg.com community and other Digg users can now read it and vote on it. If different people submit the same page, it gets votes and pushed to the first page.

Basic guide how to use StumbleUpon

Different ways to stumble, follow this guide and enjoy the quick and easy way to explore StumbleUpon.

To stumble according to your one specific interest:
From the toolbar > All > select an interest.

To stumble other user’s favorites:
From their profile > click Stumble (you will stumbling to sites which are thumbed-up by that user).

To stumble within user’s tag:
From their profile > click one of their favorite tags > Stumble (you will be stumbling to sites that come within their tag).

To stumble pages only from certain website (e.g Youtube, Blogger), this is also called StumbleThru or Channel Stumbling:
From the toolbar > All > Stumble Thru.
From the website > Stumble Thru (on footer below).

Stumble pages based on keywords:
From the toolbar > search/ tag box > enter keyword > enter and Stumble.

To show the “search/ tag box”:
Go to Tools > Toolbar option > Search & Tagging tab > check the ‘Show search/ tag’ box.

To go back to basic stumbling:
Click on ‘Tools’ a drop-down menu of your toolbar > All, or
From the website > Discover tab > Stumble.


To change the type of sites you would like to visit:
Click ‘Settings’ on top right > Manage Interests > select the subjects which interest you > Save preference.

You will occasionally stumble upon a “sponsored stumble”. It means that an advertiser has paid to bring their site to you. This is indicated by a green-shirted person icon in the toolbar. You will only see sponsored web pages related to the topics you are interested in and you will not see more than one sponsored web page per fifteen stumbles.

Click ‘Settings’ > Account Settings:
Fill in your name, email address, location and etc. You can choose whether or not you want to display your birthday to public.

Click ‘Setting’ > Profile Picture:

Mark the checkbox next to the name of your friend/s who already use StumbleUpon to make them your StumbleUpon friendd.
